The gift of salvation is given freely by Jesus to everyone who asks for it sincerely. It does not matter what you've done in the past or what kind of person you think you are. He loves you deeply and he wants to save you. He will not turn you away! Don't wait another minute to make this decision!

Begin by telling Jesus that you know you are a sinner and that you know that you need Him. Let Him know that you acknowledge that He is the only way. Ask Him to forgive you and to set you free and save you from your sins. Ask Him to come into your heart and save you. Finally, ask Him to give you the strength to live for Him and follow Him for the rest of your life. If you're struggling with the right words to say, you can say this prayer. Allow yourself to feel the meaning of every word, and make this prayer your own. Let Jesus know that these words represent exactly what you're feeling and exactly what you desire.

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. Please forgive me. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life. I believe that you died upon the cross for me, that you shed your precious blood for the forgiveness of my sin. I accept you now as my Savior, my Lord and my God. Please come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and set me free from my sin. I invite You to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. Thank you Jesus! Amen.

If you have said these words to Jesus with complete conviction, then you are saved! But what happens next? The Holy Spirit will begin to work in your life and change you into a new creation. You will, as they say, be born again. There are some important things you need to do in order to show Jesus that he really is the Lord of your life and to help the Holy Spirit change you into a new creation.

  • Learn everything about Him that you can. Read your Bible as much as possible, every day if you can.

  • Spend time in prayer with Jesus every day, too. Have conversations with Him during which you praise and thank Him and let Him know the troubles and desires of your heart. Don't worry too much about saying the right words. The important thing is to spend time with Him.

  • Whatever sin remains in your life, make the strongest possible effort to remove it right away. If you are battling some ongoing sins or have problems with addiction of any kind, make sure to get the help you need.

  • Find a community of believers and a Church where you feel welcome and let them support you in your new Christian growth.

  • Ask a pastor, minister or priest to baptize you. This is a very important step in becoming a follower of Christ, and one of the things Jesus asks of you as one of his disciples.

  • Last but not least, let us know how we can help. Will we encourage you, answer questions and pray for you. Please let us know what you need - we're here for you!

It is wonderful that you are reaching out to people to show them the way to Christ. I find it concerning to see that baptism is never mentioned in the path to salvation.

"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen (Mt. 28:16-20).

Thank you for that last comment. I agree that Baptism is a very important aspect of becoming a follower in Christ and needs to be mentioned. I have edited the article and added a note at the bottom that after accepting Christ, one should follow the Holy Spirit's calling to get baptized. Thanks again.
